Heard back from Jim Callahan at TMA. Things are moving forward.
Here's his reply:

 Hey Rick,

The current corporate website has been facing a major overhaul
since I started. Once the powers that be get their act together,
I'll be able to post the newsletter on that new site and email
the link just like you suggested. I was just excited to actually
produce a complete first issue.

If anyone on the ST site would like a copy of it, they can
contact me directly at my email address,
jim.callahan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If you could also post to the ST site that I'm seriously
interested in hearing from Texas riders who want to help develop
RAT in their local areas, I'd appreciate it. No one down there
has ever stepped up to the plate. I wonder if they know about
the Waco Raid coming up on Oct 10-12?

Had a ball riding with you.....wish I had my Daytona instead of
that Tiger and we could have wicked it up a little bit.....

ah well, beggars can't be choosers right.....

Hi Jim,
Wanted to thank you for your help at TRAP's Rallye in Packwood.
Suffice it to say a great time was had by all - Gabe WILL get
over his speeding ticket - and riding behind you guys was, err.
. . educational :o).

Just got the Sept Rat News forwarded by Mike Gray and had a
suggestion. It would simplify sharing the newsletter with others
if you'd include a link we could forward on to others where an
attachment isn't appropriate - internet newsgroups, for example.
I was going to post it to TriumphNet's ST list but haven't
figured a good way to do it. The masses are more than ready for
the timely information.

FYI, this was posted to the ST list this week:

On a serious note, how do we get more involved with RAT from a
TSRA [Triumph Sport Riders Association
http://www.tsra.cc/dawgs/index.html ]
standpoint? My membership has lapsed and even when I was
current, I never
got a single event notification until months after it happened.
Also, there
was never anything in the South to attend. The 100th anniversary
ride
didn't get within 800 miles of us!

To say we are loosely based is to be quite generous. What we
need is
Triumph, through it's local dealers, to get involved and
encourage people to
use the stores as rallye points. For instance, my local Triumph
dealer
really is a BMW dealer that sells Triumph. If you ride in on a
Beemer, your
ass is polished to a shine after the dealer is done kissing it.
If you ride
in on a Triumph, you pretty much go unnoticed. Contrast that
with the
Harley dealer 5 miles north of me and Lone Star BMW/Triumph in
Austin.
Every saturday morning, there are groups of bikes meeting up to
ride
somewhere. The Harley dealer encourages this, hell he probably
makes a
little extra cash from selling drinks and H/D embroidered rags to
wipe the
bikes down with. Lone Star has a little lounge area set aside
with notices
of rides and rallyes pinned up on a corkboard. They even provide
sodas and
coffee. I have never been treated as well at my home dealership
as I have
Lone Star.

Dealers make the difference. Triumph needs to overhaul RAT and
we need to
overhaul the TSRA. Go Dawgs!

Unfortunately, Torque doesn't always arrive in a timely manner.
My current issue arrived this week - two weeks late for the
Rallye we attended.

Thanks again, Jim and keep working on your Tiger Ballet form. . .
Cheers,
Rick
