i learned the fender lesson when i took the rear one off my bicycle, and
then rode through a mud puddle. those of us who suit up and go for Rain
Rides will even graft on one of those BMW fender extenders, and tack on
some UPS-style brushes along the bottom edge. make 'em long enough and you
can cover your trail, like old Roy Rogers...

but seriously folks, the Brits ride in rain often enough to appreciate
decent fenders. and even out here in the flatlands of the Colonies it
rains SOMEtimes. i have radiused those square corners of the stock rear
'just because', but i'm leaving mine on.

if you live in West Texas or Arizona, ignore this. it will be bone dry or
a gully-washing deluge; in either case fenders are useless.
