[ST] Re: sprockets

Does anyone have any top end speed comparisons after going 18/45? How much higher are you revving in top gear comparitively at say, 100mph? Also, is Sprocket Specialists the consensus best source?
Cheers,
Robbie

RPM. The right combo could actually increase top speed if the bike is
over geared from the factory.

19/43 is stock for 2002-on ST/RS. 18/45 is the hot ticket. It works
with the stock 108 link chain. 17/43 is essentially equal to 18/45.
I'm running 17/45. The bike is a wheelie monster; It's great! WOT in
1st is guaranteed to lift the front wheel. A hard shift to 2nd will
lift the front about a foot. I cannot tell it has decreased fuel
mileage on the highway. I still get 50 mpg at 75 mph cruising speed.

Since I'll also be replacing the sprockets I'm thinking of adding /subtracting a
tooth or so. Can someone tell me the formula again, ie more teeth on the rear
increases acceleration but decreases top end (and fuel milegage), correct?
What's the hot setup? Where's the best source for replacement sprockets? I know
all this has been gone over alot in the past so my apologies for not taking
notes. Another case where the searchable archive is sorely missed. Thanks in
advance for the info.
