RE: [ST] Throttle cable

I just replaced the cable on my 2000 today, and it wasn't really very fun to
get the the engine end. I had to remove the left side fairing, and loosen
the tank. With the tank supported up out of the way, I had access to the two
screws that fasten the airbox to the engine.

After removing these and disconnecting the vent hose (all on the left side)
the airbox popped off and I had access to the cable. Reaching a hand between
the frame and the engine with a 10mm wrench allowed me to loosen the jamb
nuts holding the engine end of the cable.
Then it was a simple matter of removing the old cable and attaching the new,
making sure to set the 3-4mm free-play as directed in the manual.

Did you try lubing the cable from the grip end? That may free it up and get
it moving.

Subject: [ST] Throttle cable
So after sitting in a friends garage for the winter the throttle cable
on my bike is very stiff. I assume it just needs to be taken off and
lubed. Can someone tell me the easiest way to get to the end that
attaches to the engine? Also would anyone know off hand how much a new
cable costs? Since it is 5 year old I am thinking that perhaps it would
be better to put a new one on and lube the old one and keep it as a
spare.
