Yes Feech, there is a difference between pre '02 and
later models of ST.
Pre '02 models have a different 955i engine with about
ten less ponies (at the crank) than current production.
'03> later models have new 955i engine with 118HP (at
crank), heated grips and panniers are included.
I have a '00 ST (31.8K miles) and am preparing to
upgrade to a new '03 ST within the next week or so. Go
with the newer engine if you can afford it. Lots of
power and low down grunt. However, nothing wrong at all
with earlier models. Do what suits your taste and
pocketbook.
