Bill,
Better watch out, your making noises like you have common sense.  If you do
primarily word processing, moderate size spread sheets, or mainly web
searches, I could make a good case for a 486 being good enough for
government work, if it weren't for Windows and modern code being so
inefficient.  That chase for the bleeding edge is rough on the pocket book
and in my opinion the perfect demonstration of the "Law of Deminishing
Returns."
