RE: [ST] Fuel Connector Recall

As I understand it, the new parts being installed on bikes in
the factory are not metal. However, the replacements for recalled bikes
are aluminum (remember, only the male portion is being replaced under
the recall). I have also been told that the aluminum parts do not
incorporate internal shutoff valves.
And another thing, I wonder about the wisdom of mating an
aluminum piece with a plastic piece. Doesn't seem like the two are
particularly compatible in terms of thermal expansion. If they are
thermally incompatible then it seems like more fuel leaks are on the
horizon. This is why I'm replacing all of them with the same material
(metal).

Subject: [ST] Fuel Connector Recall

Has anyone had this done yet?

I just off the phone with a dealer here in PA who said that the recall
replacement parts were aluminum?
Interesting because I thought I'd read hear that they were going to be
just beefed up plastic.
