As a long-time owner of small diesel-powered passenger cars, I'm a big fan
of their torque characteristics, fuel efficiency and performance.  The idea
of having those advantages available in a Sprint-like motorcycle warms the
cockles of my heart.  It'd be no sweat to go 400 miles on a thankful!

While the MCN article doesn't address the engine's design specifics, most
small-displacement diesels are four-stroke.  That said, there's no reason
why they couldn't have hydraulic lifters. . .

I've always wanted to fit a Jake Brake to one of my VW's to complete the
package ;o)
