I've had good luck looping "soft-ties" around the lower triple clamp up
front, and around/thru the reag peg mounts as you suggest for the
rear.  Then attached your tie down hooks to the soft-ties.  Try to make
sure none of the webbing in the softtie or the tiedown is up against
anything like fairing plastic or it'll run the paint bad.

Tip: instead of "bouncing" the front while someone cinches up the front
tiedowns to achieve compression, just lean the bike to one side, cinch it
up, then lean it the other way.  Don't compress all the way down or you
may blow your fork seals.
