Rod,
I've been using USAA since the late 60's also (old fart) and have a very
clean driving record. I've never been able to beat USAA's auto rates, but
I was really shocked when I tried to insure my Sprint with them. They
were, in fact, twice the price as Progressive. When USAA gave me the
quote, I said, "You've got to be kidding." To which they responded they
didn't try to be competitive on motorcycle quotes. Despite their good
claims service, they didn't get my motorcycle business. By the way, State
Farm also beat USAA's rates on home insurance.

I recently added a Ducati to my Progressive policy and it was almost twice
the price as the Sprint. Same driver, same record, two bikes, one driver -
it seemed high to me. I guess they consider a smaller displacement "Sport"
bike much more of a risk than a "Sport Tourer."

If you're getting better or similar bike rates with USAA, I'd stay with
them, it didn't work for me.
