Re: [ST] slip-ons

"would you mind elaborating a bit on the fabrication involved?"

Sure, I drilled out the rivets for the SS cover and removed it. I cut off
the end cap and the front cap and threw away the core. I purchased a 18"
length of 5" exhaust pipe to use as the new can. I bought 24" of 2" exhaust
pipe. I cut three sided strips in the the 2" pipe for vents and cut and
welded a angle to the end of the 2" pipe to match the end cap outlet. I
welded the front cap to the can, and inserted the 2" pipe into the can and
inlet area, then I packed between the core pipe and can with coarse steel
wool from my local hardware store. I packed it in tight. I welded the end
cap and reinstalled the SS cover. I had to cut shorter the SS cover because
I built the can to measure only 18" long. The sound is wonderful, much like
the expensive SS triumph off road can. What is cool about the whole thing is
it looks stock. This project is for those of us who have time and little
money.
