Jeffrey,
I have a Two Brother's high mount can on an 01 ST. If the ST is your only
bike and you plan on keeping her for a while, I'd really urge you to keep
the bags and mounts - soft luggage just doesn't compare. The hardbags are
really nice for travel and can be installed quickly. When I mount the
bags, I swing the can down and it mounts just fine. With the option of
mounting the bags, the ST offers so much versatility. You can set her up
as a sport bike, or as a tourer depending on your whim. I bought my ST as
more of a sport bike with better ergos for a middle-aged rider (me). I
never thought I'd enjoy distance riding as 400 - 500 miles would pretty
well do me in on other bikes I had owned. Then about a year ago I rode an
Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000 (1000 miles in 24 hours or less) and I was
amazed at how good I felt at the end of the ride. I hope to make a cross
country on her this Spring or Summer.
By the way, I'm in Marietta, Ga - maybe we can put a ride together with
some of the AL/GA riders.
