[ST] for David - '00 RS

Congratulations on your new/used RS. I bought the first one to
arrive at Orange Co. in Feb. of '00, now have over 25K miles on it
and there is NOTHING on the market for which I'd be willing to give
it up.

I ordered the soft luggage and when it came and I inspected it,
decided I didn't want it, and sweet talked the dealer into keeping
it. They were nice enough to credit my money toward the centerstand,
front fender extender and rear hugger, all of which have been
completely satisfactory.

I checked around and decided on the GIVI E28 (28 liter) hard
bags - about $140 each (although the US dollar has since fallen on
it's ass) at that time, plus the mounting brackets. They are superb
value for money,... extremely rugged, user friendly - snap right on
and off - and completely waterproof. Makes a great sport-tourer
without the leg roasting full- fairing of the ST (which would be a
better choice in cold climates).

Like other owners, I went through the ST bars and GenMar risers
trying to find a comfortable hand position, and finally installed LSL
risers and tubular bars before I got a straight wrist, but stock may
be fine for you.

With the more upright riding position, I got the Zero Gravity
sport touring screen which has also proved satisfactory (& they have
neat colors).

The directionals are non-cancelling (like the 1930s bikes) and
the tiny green flasher is invisible in the sunlight, many riders
forget to cancel the directionals so often as to be hazardous. I
finally disconnected my front directionals to help prevent cars from
pulling out in front of me.

I haven't left the parking light on for over three years but I
still carry bike jumper cables in my GIVIs.

     I'm sure this is more info than you can use,.. so have fun;
