Yes Coop, as others have mentioned the extraneous parts you've found are
the reinforcing brackets that strengthen the rack mount.  And definitely
see the FAQ on the website regarding replacing some of the bolts with
longer ones that you install from the bottom up, it makes removal and
reinstallation later a snap.
