Greetings all;

I have just returned home after an interesting weekend away in the Snowy
Mountains region of South Eastern Australia.

Great mountain roads, a great combination of high speed sweepers and
tight gnarly corners.

HOWEVER - I didn't get to do much of it - about 30 km out of Tumut, a
kamikaze kangaroo decided to headbutt my bike and I. It is amazing what
goes through your mind in the second between when you see the roo and
when you hit. I was just coming out of a bend....not going too quick,
because I had seen a couple of roos only a short time before...so,
turning left, straightening up, when Skippy hopped out of a
bush....SHIT! SHOULD I STOP...TRY AND GET AROUND.....I just
accelerated, trying to dodge him..but also since you are most stable
under accelleration, I thought that that may be the best course of
action. Skippy thumped into my RHS...I then binged off him....trying to
keep the bike upright, arms and legs going everywhere.. and freaking out
because a right hand bend with its armco guard rail was looming
up....shit...got round that....braked the bike....and came to a
stop.Result - one "severely deaded" skippy, one Sprint ST with a very
busted up RHS fairing panel and footpeg/bracket/rear brake assembly
busted up as well. And then me, with a bit of a battered right knee,
shin and ankle.

We managed to tape and cable up the busted footpeg assembly and then
went back to Tumut. I bullied the other blokes into continuing their
ride, and them managed to limp back 500km back to Charlies Workshop. He
kindly opened it up for me and the bike is now there, looking rather
worse for wear.

I knew there was a reason why I say my prayers every day....!

Cheers
