[ST] Clarification

After reading a couple of the responses from my initial email, I wanted to
clear something up.
I am not advocating for the ST to be just like the FJR. Nor am I advocating
for the ST to follow in the path of any current sport-tourer.
I am advocating that Triumph get the customers involved in the design
process and see if maybe, just maybe, the hundreds of us have come up with
something their design team might not have thought of, or exposed a problem
that only thousands of miles reveals. (ie. the rubbing problems with the
'99 wiring harness)
Little things like on bike storage, ease of maintenance, and commonly
purchased accessories are some areas of interest one would think Triumph
would be interested in knowing from our real world experience on the ST. I
mean really, no helmet locks or hooks for bungee cords on a sport tourer,
what were they thinking? Even pure sport bikes have those! Relocating the
damn seat lock so you can actually get to it with luggage on the bike or
while wearing gloves. Wiring the heated grip switch so you don't risk
damaging the wires when you remove the left side fairing. All these ideas
and more came from real live ST riders. What really frustrates me is that
not one of those little, easy to implement ideas has been made in the last
five years. We now have FIVE different versions of the Bonneville and other
than the new motor, (that every bike in the 955 line got), not a single
requested improvement has been made.
Complaining on the list about what we wish Triumph would do ain't gonna cut
it. If Triumph doesn't actively solicit our input, any changes in new
models are simply going to be hit or miss.
Frankly, It looks as if Triumph is going to focus on the Rocket III and
cruisers for another couple of years before changing the ST. Fine, go ahead
and make a killing in the cruiser market while you can. Just remember us
when it comes time to focus on the new ST.
So, once again, I ask, how do we, the customers, get involved? Anyone from
Triumph America out there? How about you guys in Hinckley?
