I have them done as such.  They are REALLY solid, and look much better than
the original mounts, which make the lights stick way off the bike (which is
really ugly in my opinion).  There are no issues with heat.  All of the
wiring is internalized - nothing hangs loose.  They are a great product that
you can tell were manufactured for this purpose on a motorcycle.  

To those that have requested pictures, I apologize for the delay, but my
work has sent me out of town.  I should, however, be able to send them out
this upcoming weekend.

I noticed on their web site that they have mounting brackets that attach
them to the front brake mounting h/w.  Anyone done this?  Seems like it
would be a lot more stable than strapping them to the forks.  Any heat
issues?
