RE: [ST] Advice Needed - Seats!!

Yes, Denis, I now have a Triumph gel seat. My stock one was getting painful
with 42,000 miles on it, and a friend sold me his relatively new gel seat
for cheap money. (He went to a Mayer.)

I notice it is simply more comfortable support. It does NOT have the "holds
your butt" feel of a Corbin, but I prefer that. On track days (or really
rare fast street days), I need to get off the seat, laterally. Being stuck
firmly in a Corbin makes that awkward. The Triumph gel seat is a nice
compromise as it's more supportive than stock, but still flat. I'll throw
the stock saddle back on for track days though.

I don't find any joy in riding 1000-mile (1630km?) days, about 500-550 is my
limit. Most of my street rides are in the 250-400 mile range, so having a
true long-distance saddle isn't a requirement for me. If it was, I too would
buy a Mayer or a Russell (TRULY ugly, but functional.)

I really like my Corbin on the ST- beautifully made, very supportive, room
to move fore and aft, overall a vast improvement over the stock seat. It is
a bit wider, so if you're at all inseam challenged, best to test- sit on a
bike so equipped before buying. Ken Mitchell can give you some accurate
feedback on the Triumph Gel seat, Mr. Mitchell?
