Every 3K  I imagine I could go longer but why chance it. Over the course of 
100,000 miles it would have cost me an additional $660.00  since I sold the 
ST at 21,000 miles it cost me a whopping
$140.00   I can live with that.. FWIW when I sold the bike it ran perfect, 
never used any oil, and the valves were in spec every time I had them checked.
