The mountains around St Ignatius are unique and quite worth the trip IMHO.

Parts of hwy 89 through the Little Belt Mountains and Highway 200 has good mountain passes, but I haven't been on them recently enough to know conditions.

Traffic around Flathead lake can be pretty bad.

Have fun. It's a great area.

Dan.

Subject: [ST] Upcoming road trip ideas

Hi Gang,

Planning a road trip near the end of September, beginning at the Tetons in Wyoming, up through Yellowstone with a destination of Glacier National park and surrounding environs. Would appreciate any input from the group regarding great routes after Yellowstone on the way to Glacier----any particular scenic roads, twisties, etc. that you could recommend, as well as any return roads back to the Tetons if we decided not to retrace our steps.

Thanks in advance for any help

<DIV>There's some nice stretches of road up there.&nbsp; Highway 212 out of the East gate is a great motorcycling road and worth the time out of the way.</DIV>

<DIV>Follow 287&nbsp;over to twin bridges, down to Dillon, then178 and 43 over to Lost trail pass.&nbsp; The pass is fun towards Missoula, but gets crowded and slow the closer to Missoula.&nbsp; The scenery along the way is something else.&nbsp; I haven't been up there is quite awhile, so someone closer might give you condition reports.</DIV>

<DIV>Chico Hot Springs north of Yellowstone is a nice stop for a soak.</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>From Missoula north, you can go east and up 83 through Condon.&nbsp; Nice scenery, straight road, but little traffic until you get closer to Flathead Lake.</DIV>
