Mr. Baker,
I have put on and taken off Gen-Mars twice on my 2001 ST. Never had a
problem with either the throttle cable or the brake line. Just to make
myself feel better, when I took the bike in for service I asked the Triumph
mechanic to loosen the bolt holding the brake line to the master cylinder
and angle it down a little more, but that was purely cosmetic as I had
already ridden the bike 5000 miles after putting the risers on.
I can tell you that not every ST has the cable routed the same way. I know
that Tom Emberson had an identical 2001 ST and we routinely found things
done just a little different on each bike. I also know that when I had my
throttle cable replaced under warranty, the new cable was routed differently
by the mechanic than it had originally been from the factory. Which way was
right I don't really know. Both worked fine.
Good Luck,
Manuel Gonzalez
