No. Put it on the back of the brake pads to prevent brake squeal.

For the pistons you can either:
1) Leave them clean and dry.
2) Use something like GP Products "Super Caliper Grease", which is designed 
for the job.
3) Use a very tiny amount brake fluid as a lube to ease the pistons back.

1) or 2) are my preferred options. Others might know better.
