Bingo!  My ST had more than 7500 miles on it when I moved here, so I 
dodged the CA emissions requirement.

Check with the school, though, regarding residency requirements.  I 
know some states (Maryland, for example) require you to register your 
vehicle in the state if the vehicle is within the state boundaries over 
a certain percentage of time.
