RE: [ST] Honda CBR1000 HP

The crankshaft is the one with the offset pins that the rods and pistons
bolt to. Everything downstream of that is superfluous to power production.
The 955 also has a balance shaft gear driven off of the crank.

The clutch is gear driven off of the crank and is mounted on the
transmission input shaft. It drives the trans output shaft (countershaft)
that holds the contershaft sprocket. That's 3 gear driven shafts before
the 96% efficient chain drive. Gears are no more efficient than chains, so
the trans looses 4+4=8% + 4% = 12% for the drive train and we still have to
add the balance shaft. I'd say the engine loses at 15% to the rear wheel.
A 118 Hp Sprint would be 104 at the rear wheel.

Then what is the crank. I always thought the crank is the "crank shaft",
i.e. the final output shaft from the engine. In our case, what we are
calling the counter shaft that the front sprocket is attached to.

What about the transmission and primary drive?
