[ST] How Bryce Handled his Suspension Needs (I won't bug ya anymore :p)

No problem Roger. If u want minimal investment u may
go the Hyperor replacement spring route. Others on
the list went this way are are pelased for the $
invested and I know Hyperpro supplies a lot of tuners
with replacement springs. I finally came up with a
solution for myself, but it may not be the same for
the ST (Actually should be easier for ST as they are
still making them and there are more of these out
there, but who knows on a manufacturer by manufacturer
basis).

Here's the final deal:

Hagon- Developing shock now, but delivery is TBD

Ohlins- Stopped production of the setup for Sprint RS
1 month ago, but the basic shock 46PRCS, is still
made, may be difficult to find that mounting hardware.
Some dealers may still have these or claim they can
get them for u, who knows. I am now finding there are
US retailers who can rebuild Ohlins contrary to what i
was told that u have to ship overseas to get a Ohlins
rebuilt.

Penske- They have measurements for a 2000 Sprint RS.
Confirmed with local triumph Dealer that Part # for
rear shock on all model RSs is the same so shouldn't
be a problem. They are good to go. No remote preload
adjuster, but shouldn't be too big a deal as Penske's
don't use the crappy spanner wrench and break your
knuckles to adjust. They have a special tool that
makes it easy to adjust day to day.

WP (Formerly White Power)- They have a shock, but
takes a long time to get it, approx 8 weeks and not
sure if KTM Dealers can service these or get the shock
for u, even though WP is now owned by KTM. I was told
my some resellers that their quality control has
dropped off recently as KTM started outsourcing them
out to third world countries to be made. Every dealer
I went to had trouble helping me out.

Works Performance- It has the same adjustments the
stock shock has with the same adjustment points and
methods. It's their gas filled Ultra shock with a
single rate spring. 5 to 600 dollars. You do need to
send them your shock as they reuse the preload
adjuster.

Technoflex- Having production delivery problems, but
quality shock. I'm worried about though to find
rebuild components. Could not find a USA distributor.

Wilber- haven't checked

Fox- not currently producing anything

Lindemann had the best pricing on the two-way Penske
(Thermosman, Mike Fitzgerald can match pricing of
Lindemann on 3-way though) and is well respected in
support so I went with them. Cost me $660 for the
Penske, delivery time to my door is ~20 days.

No matter what brand of shock u buy or who u buy it
from, don't believe any suspension tuner/retailer that
states they take a Penske or Ohlins, or whatever after
it's delivered from the manufacturer, open it up,
revalve it with their special magical settings and
then replace the spring and send it to you....it's BS.
They all call the manufacturer....give the type of
riding, rider weight etc. etc. and the manufacturer
does the work. The only one u might need to replace
anything is Ohlins....they ship out their shocks with
a standard spring Rate. I confirmed this by calling
Penske myself and speaking with some suspension of
retailers who weren't out to blow smoke up my ass. :p

Thanks for everyone's help...I really appreciate it!
Hope this helps someone else who has to go through the
hoops. :)
