Couldn't you rent windsurfing kit at wherever it is you stop to surf?

The backpad is not worth it--doesn't make any difference, according to
my wife.

I have a Mountain Hardwear skyview.  It's a 2.5 person, but packs up
small enough to put in the givi and has a large vestibule.  Plus it has
zip-in flaps that convert it to a 4 season.
