[ST] RE: mp3 players and earbuds...

Peter,

For what it's worth here's the setup I use: Apple Gen 3 20gig Ipod, w/ 2833
songs including Tenacious D. Along with Sony Fontopia Earbuds
(http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_Br
owseCatalog-Start;sid=f3q2FhEcOaS2Y1GHA1q8HV4T4LgKzzcrytc=?CategoryName=acc_
Headphones_Fontopia%2e%2fEarbud&Dept=acc), the EX71SL model.

I've never had it skip, whether it's been used while playing hamster on the
treadmill or riding on the RS. The sony's are good for about 60 70% noise
reduction compared to regular earplugs, I'm sure I could do better for more
$$. I'll be looking into some of the links that folks posted in the last
digest for sure.

And for whomever mentioned buying an Archos, be forewarned, everyone that
I've ever know who has owned a product made by this company has regretted
it, myself included. The only thing that made my Archos passable (before
the HD gave up the ghost) was the fact that someone had been nice enough to
hack the firmware and make it actually work. The standard user interface
left a lot to be desired. After having seen a friends Ipod I was even more
disappointed, so when mine died I picked up the Pod and have been loving it
ever since.

Time to get out and ride.

Speaking of music, who out there is using an MP3 player? What is your
preference. I'd like a hard drive type player out there, but are they
consistent enough? Do they skip or lose their place with all the abuse? It
seems like a much better option, given that most solid state MP3 players are
way too small.

Also, I want to get some earplugs with good noise reduction. After riding
for a couple of years with no plugs a while back, I've already suffered all
the permanent tinitus that I'd like to. What are people using?
