If he knows what's good for him, he won't be passing through NJ!!  Head
through Eastern PA - better roads, less traffic.  NJ is a clusterf**k of
traffic.  You get skewed living there too.  What you think is no
traffic, is actually a good amount to anyone else; and what you think is
an open road, is not so much.  I lived in NJ for almost 20 years.
Although, I cannot say the situation is much better down here in
DC...same thing really.

I would head through NY state and com down PA and into western VA for
the best roads.  Just MHO.

I still do that on the bike if I have the time when heading between DC
and NY to visit family and friends.
