[ST] for Doug - single-sided swingarm

    Look at the size of it!... it's huge, built strong enough not to
flex.  All that unsprung weight makes the work of the rear suspension
- - namely keeping the rear tire in contact with the road surface -
much more difficult.  The more uneven the pavement gets, the more the
handling will suffer in comparison to a dual-sided swing arm.  This
is Suspension 101. 

    Also most DSSA rigs come equipped with a narrower wheel than the
SSSA bikes allowing the use of a narrower tire, which further
improves the handling.  It's a win-win situation.
