    It's what we always called 'Standard' before the Japanese
invasion of the mid-1960s', except it was always on the Right side -
dirt track style - with the rear brake on the left;... simply stated:
one-up from neutral is 1st, then down for each shift to a higher gear
(like my Harley XR1200).

    Apparently the same pattern on the left (wrong) side is known as
GP style.  Dunc's talked me into changing the shifter on my RS.
