You're probably right.  You'd probably drag foot peg before your knee hits.  Even then, unless you're jus plain crazy, it takes time to get use to finding the maximum lean angle and dragging the knee.  You really should ease into it gradually.  Your knee will eventually drag, then you'll keep going to see just how far and how fast you can push the corner speed.  Then you'll either low or high side and know ok that's the limit.  Over time it becomes second nature.  The more track time (like the pros) the better we'll get.

I bought brand new Teknic Chicane leathers for $329 from New Enough last year.  It seems they have closeouts all the time.

For the price they've held up extremely well when I high sided.  Not a single abrasion or burn on the body, and I was going about 65 MPH.  Not sure how far it was but I slid a good distance and they're still good to go again (I'm not though).  ;)
