August 2004.
Bitten by the "BIKE bUG" after a 30 year respite I acquired a 2000 Sprint RS 
which I proceeded to take to "Bike Nite " at a local tavern 3 days  after 
taking posession.
Surrounded by Harleys (my last few x-rides) I suddenly thought to 
myself......." what the (bleep) am I doin' here ?" "I should be out ridin".
Having redonned jacket ,helmet,gloves and getting my 60+ year old leg over 
the saddle I proceeded to engage the clutch lever and push the starter 
button which caused many revolutions of the engine but no startage.
WTF?........button..........WTF?..........button......... WTF? Any problem 
with new fuel line connectors ? don't know..........no tools....... can't 
remove bodywork !
By this time I am barraged with questions like     "won't start ? " or the 
Canadian version "won't start eh ? "
Kindly woman arranges with kitchen help for extension light as  the sun sets 
and I remove seat to check fuses etc.  No luck !
Now I have to make that call we all dread, I have to call    THE WIFE    to 
tell her I've stopped and can't get started...bring tools, etc.
By the time THE WIFE arrives , with an animated tale about having to move my 
MGB, she is only 5 feet tall, the crowd is dispersed except for the kindly 
woman and  a few stragglers.........."still won't start eh ? "
Demonstrate to THE WIFE that the bike really won't start and I'm not just 
hangin' out with the kindly woman when THE WIFE says " I thought you said it 
won't start if the side stand is down ? " Replies I " it will start with the 
side stand down but won't run if the stand is down and you put the bike in 
gear. "

WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..............In Gear ?.................Is it in gear 
?......................Is the neutral light on ? 
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Engage neutral............................engage clutch 
lever................. turn on ignition..................see neutral 
light...............pushbutton........................ ZOOM ZOOM !!!!!!!!!!!

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last question of the evening "got it started eh ? "
