Didn't make it to Ferndale but gassed up just down the road in Rio Dell. I was traveling with my buddy (on a black '99 - to go with my blue '00). It's hard to imagine better riding than SoCal, but if the small sampling I got this weekend is an indicator then you might live in a place that rivals it!
