The viscosity numbers are real voodoo.  To a layman they should relate to
thick and thin but in reality they have more to do with how they perform
in a series of tests.  This may sound like nit picking but "50" really
means that it performs like a 50wt oil does in the test and really does
not mean that it is all that "thick" especially when you factor in that
the tests are at operating temperature.

FWIW, in my not so humble opinion, oil is not a topic where "you get what
you pay for" applies.
