RE: [ST] Lane Splitting II

UK is still civilized, France is scary though! They do
the same like in the UK but twice as fast and wheelying
while wearing just short sleeved shirts (police included!).
Germans on the other hand only have legal lane splitting
for a few years now. Being the law obeying bunch they are
it's always obvious that they aren't used to it, most just
sweating there ass off while standing still on the Autobahn
between the cars... [rolling eyes upwards]... silly guys.

Legal in Holland (I think legal pretty much everywhere in
Europe now), people never open their doors wile riding
slow and 90% make way for me. In France it's even cooler,
when I came charging in at 180 km/h on my way to Bordeaux
(when the police weren't checking speed as much as they
are now) the cars (riding 160 km/h) still try to make
way for you, even if it means that they almost hug mirrors
with the cars next to them so I could ride between them
and the center crash barrier. And I chased 2 French cops
on old BMW K's on the ring around Paris, while they were
racing between slow moving cars with speeds close to 100
km/h. Motorcyclists in France are like kings it seems,
I love it there :-).

But in general, as long as you pay close attention to
all traffic you are approaching and if you anticipate
them to move into any hole that opens up, I have no
problems with lane splitting and find it perfectly safe.
When it's summer and traffic is actually standing still,
then it's more tricky to watch doors opening. But usually
it moves slow at least.
