RE: [ST] Mad at me... [Engine Warning Light]

My understanding is it's not that the battery was disconnected or that a
given sensor was unplugged but that the ignition was turned on &/or the
engine was run with something unplugged. A common cause during services is
running the engine with the airbox removed to synch the throttle bodies, in
which case you likely have the fuel gauge, inlet air temp sensor and the
barometric pressure sensor hose to the ECU all disconnected.

When you change the air filter you have to unplug the air density meter.
This is what causes the check engine light to come on according to the
mechcanic who did my 12,000 mile service.

I have read that it takes "3 complete heat cycles" to clear the Engine
Warning Light.
I don't know if that is EXACTLY correct, but it is close. Just give it time.
Don't worry until you have done 3 rides from a cold start.

My question is , why would this service cause the "check engine" light to
come on?
