[ST] Going back to Cali

Cali-pers that is. And lube, too.

While at PepBoys today I saw a product that I was tempted to try but I get nervous when I see the words "brake" and "lubricant" used in the same sentence. The stuff was a type of brake caliper lubricant. Now there were two types. One had a warning in big fat letters: "DO NOT APPLY TO PISTONS OR SEALS." The other said that, among other bits, it should be applied to pistons and seals and that it would not eat rubber. Logic would dictate that this is the kind of stuff that would make the pistons slide a little easier in the seals thereby making "Squishy Triumph Brake Syndrome" a thing of the past. But then again, my logic has gotten me into trouble in the past.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of stuff? Any brake "experts" out there that would not recommend it?

Oh, and by the way, both products strongly recommended NOT applying the stuff to the rotor, drum or brake pad surfaces.
