[ST] baboons

After all my bleating on Friday I ended up getting a chance to do a mellow 150kms around Cape Point & Chapman's Peak.

It was still damp in places, and some gravel in the odd corner from all the rain, but its a very scenic ride along the coats & I enjoyed it - cruising around by myself not chasing anyone. I didn't see a single bike the entire trip, probably because they were all watching SA  whip the Ozzies in the tri-nations rugby (apologies to the Ozzies still feeling depressed after losing four internationals in a row.....)

Ten minutes out of Simons town I came blasting around a dry section and then had to come to a complete halt with a troop of baboons in the road, 10 to 15 of them.

They didn't look too friendly, and lately people have been complaining that they are becoming aggressive, so I decided not to try ride through the troop. An adult male would do a lot of damage to a human if it attacked.

I turned around, went back to Simons Town and then cut across through the Red Hill road, which is also good fun, but bumpy. 

First time I've had to avoid wild animals with serious teeth!
