Don't worry. They're all just jealous. I am. ;-)
I have a Sprint RS and now dream of the day a get my fire breathing 1000cc 180 HP beast. Squid? No. Just another, like you, whose skill level is rising and wanting more (i.e. a bike more capable than I am). Without dumping $$$$ at my RS to better the front and rear suspension, I'm getting to the point where my level is more capable than the bikes, and I don't like that.
I mean, what about $1000 for a new rear shock and at least $400 to rebuild my existing front fork guts, more if I want new forks.
The bad name comes from the ignorant/inexperienced buying something like that as their first bike and getting themselves killed.

Like everyone else I'm getting wood over the GSX-R, and being in my 50s, that's
saying something. But given the disparity between bike and rider competence,
Suzuki might want to add vultures to its accessory catalog."
