If you're going to go to such lengths Pat, I would suggest running more than 
one tank in each condition, say three, and taking an average from there after 
recording your figures and working it out from there. I would also work out 
the average for the whole test period as well as noting when you hit reserve for 
each tank.

It will, of course, mean that you will have to do a fair bit of riding in the 
various conditions you describe, but I for one have used the reason "I'm 
conducting fuel consumption testing" many times ti great effect.
