I agree on the warranty thing.  It's the show appearances that I think
probably needed suspending.

With a smaller bike company, a close relationship with the end-user
could be a good differentiator.

A presence at the bike show doesn't just boost new bike sales.
The presence gets people talking and makes the marque more desirable.
That in turn boosts used bike sales and improves residuals.
That in turn makes new bike ownership a more attractive prospect.
All these things are interlinked.

Warranty support of bikes sold should never be compromised in order to
get
more bikes out the door irrespective of the demand. Existing customers
have
already forked over their money and should be looked after by the
company
(as has been done in the past). Neglect of existing customers by the
factory
will eventually force even the most ardent supporters of the marque to
go
elsewhere.
