Re: [ST] Australian Beer and Bikes

We do export Fosters, but the general feeling is that if you drink it you deserve it...

XXXX is probably the worst beer you could subject your taste buds to. Its called four X, as the people who originate it cant spell "beer".

VB (video beer) is a marginal step above XXXX.

Crown Lager is sold as a premium beer but actually starts life as Fosters, going through one more step in the brewing process.

The makers of Redback, Matilda Bay Brewing Company, do an excellent range that I have spent many years studying.
Coopers is also another great range of local brews. As is the already mentioned Cascade.

I would love to suggest that they start exporting, but being relatively small breweries, their production is limited. Its not that I want you to miss out, its just that summer is here, today is going to be 38C in Sydney and I'll be sitting on my beach cooling off with a quiet few of the aforementioned fine ales.

Perhaps if theres some left over next year I could send some your way in time for the northern summer?

Or you could head this way and I would happily take you on a beer tasting/appreciation tour. We could throw in a few wineries as well...

Eh, they can keep the XXXX and VB. I prefer the Tassie premium lagers from
Cascade and Boags and the James Squire range of beers. Redback Wheat wasn't
too bad either. Best beer I had in Oz was the "Black Ban Bitter" at the
Melbourne Hotel (brewpub). Also available at the Scottish Chief Hotel
(another brewpub) in Geelong. The Lord Nelson brewpub in Sydney had some
good ales as well.
