RE: [ST] Considering the Sport Bike....

Yeah - they actually asked me what model Daytona (super-something (the
older model), the 955i, the 600); so they seemed to know the bike.

I agree with the Mille assessment. I rode one a year or so ago and
absolutely loved it. Best pure sport focused bike I've ridden. I
really want either a triple or a twin - much better performance for the
road. Don't have to drop 3 or 4 gears to get the revs over 9,000 just
to have some umph! You tend not to ride around the town around 10,000
rpm just in case you need power. The twins and triples are much more
useable when away from the track...

Had you actually priced out insurance specifically for a Daytona 955i?
There's a history of insurance companies not knowing what a Daytona
is....and doing those cheap. BTW, I dunno where you are located, but a
2004
Honda CBR1000RR just showed up on the Boston Craig's List for $6K.
Pretty
cheap, and looks MINT. (Stolen??)

If I had my choice, I'd go with an RSV Mille. I rode a friend's, and it
fit
me PERFECT. Plus, I loved it's handling and power curve.

So I've been looking into getting a sport bike..... I was wondering what
the
insurance difference would be for different models. I wasn't sure
exactly
what I wanted but was looking into GSXR-750, RC-51, Aprilia
Mille, CBR 929rr, ZX-9r, and of course a Daytona 955i. So I called my
insurance company and HOLY CRAP!!!! Almost all of these bikes (looking
at
2001's/2002's) would increase my current insurance rate by over $2000
per
year. I guess that takes them all right out. That's ridiculous.
The current Sprint is around $800 for the year. Hopefully the new one
will
be similarly priced for insurance, and I'll make a decision as to
whether or
not to get one of those. Until then, guess I'm sitting tight.
