RE: [ST] What do you do?



Interesting, considering the hourly labor rate keeps increasing.  

One closest to me charges $45/half hour.  $90/hr!!!!!  They're probably only paying the tech $20/hr if he's lucky.  Then throw on the parts costs.  Talk about being raped.

No wonder I'm seriously considering buying a tuneboy and some additional tools and doing the 24K tune up myself.  Hmmm.
$400 for all the tools (includes TuneBoy) or $400+ to a shop.  The next time I have to do the valve check tune up it'll have paid for itself, and at least I'll know it was done correct.  If not I only have myself to blame and not some high priced shop.

I've also considered my options in this area.  I recall a survey in MCN last
year that showed that motorcycle techs that work for other folks are
experiencing falling pay rates.  Additionally few of them have paid benefits.
