Harry,
I do not know that much about this recall but this
http://www.sprint-st.org/recalls.html#Rear%20Wheel%20Bearing
suggests one of the suppliers had a bad run of bearings.

What makes no sense is that supposedly your bearing was fitted with a
good bearing at 16,000k. The only possibilities that make sense in my
mind are
A) They put another bad bearing in
B) They did something wrong when installing the bearing

I do know of one other person that had this failure but I have never
asked him about it. Hopefully some others on the list can offer more
insight.

I would also have a serious confidence issue. I have 35K miles on my
99ST. I had the rear bearings lubed at 27.5K miles after noticing that
that it was suggested at 24K miles in the owners manual.

I hope you can get to the bottom of this. Will Triumph tell you the bad
manufacturer so you can try and ascertain if a 'good' or 'bad' bearing
was put in at 16K?

I would like to see the pictures. If you want to email them to me I
could put them on my website so that everyone can see them.

Good luck getting to the bottom of this.
Rupert
