I'd suggest that if you're not in the habit of regularly oiling the control
cables (Throttle & Clutch) you buy yourself a hydraulic cable oilier and
pump fresh clean oil right through the cables. It's amazing how much easier
it is to ride a bike with well lubed cables and a broken or seized cable can
be a show stopper.
It might also be worth considering adding a puncture preventative to the
tyres.
A roadside puncture can be a PITA with a fully laden bike, unfamiliar roads
and a pee'd off SWMBO.
I've successfully used Ultra Seal and OKO.
