I have to agree re. cold water and not hot. I'm maybe getting too old, but
after a couple of years riding through the winter (I have a 20 mile
commute), and not being able to feel my fingers after about 15 of those
(it's an affliction) I finally decided to simply garage the poor beastie
come November with only occasional weekend runs out to "keep her right".
The continual cleaning cycle and slithering around just wasn't fun any
more. The money I don't spend on Scottoiller FS-365, WD-40, etc. etc. is
what runs my aged VW Polo (VW Fox to our US cousins) over the winter
(107,500 miles and still going - just!).
Up where you live Pat, the council are probably better at dealing with
cold, dry weather. It's probably wetter down here, so we get a lot more
surface frost damage (potholes you could break a wheel in no problem) and
mud / run-off from fields is a real problem out where I stay. That and the
local haulage company taking 40 tonne 18-wheelers down a narrow, twisting
road with a bridge rated at 7.5 tonnes. But that's a rant for another day.

The FS-365 spray is good - but it is water soluble so does wash off. It's
simple and quick to reapply, and the more you use it, the more crevices and
crannies it works its way into. I use it all year round and certainly
recommend you give it a shot.
I also agree with Pascal about cleaning the front brake calipers regularly
and rigorously. It's amazing the difference it makes.
Happy trails and I'll maybe even be joining you on a daily run out to work
if this mild spell continues.
As a matter of interest, who is your local Triumph dealer now?
Cheers,
Spud.
