RE: [ST] Two New Triumphs Rumored

I doubt Triumph will base its displacement decisions on racing rules -
particularly not Moto GP - as there is very little chance we'll see
another factory-sponsored racing effort, a decision I applaud. The
3-cyl sport bike will likely see the Daytona 650 becoming a 750
triple. That rumor has been circulating for well over a year.

I'll put my money on 800cc since the MotoGP rules changed for 2007
toward 800cc.

Two New Triumphs Rumored
By Dirck Edge
Triumph's executives have been quoted as saying two entirely new
models are coming for 2006. Of course, they are not disclosing what
they might be. The strongest rumor suggests a three-cylinder sport
bike displacing somewhere between 650cc and 800cc. Our vote goes for
something closer to 800cc.

The more interesting rumor concerns a large displacement parallel-twin
similar to the current Bonneville line of motorcycles. This would
feature two of the three Rocket III cylinders, yielding a displacement
of approximately 1530cc. If the engine were placed crossways in the
frame (again, similar to the current Bonneville), it might just be the
largest displacement bike of that engine configuration ever
manufactured by a major OEM.

Both of the new bikes should be announced in the September-October
time frame . . . possibly at the NEC show in England.
