They MAY be made of Viton which is tougher. If the o-ring is bad it
will be fairly obvious just by looking at it.

The common failure mode for the plastic connectors is that the male
half cracks. This never happened to me so I do not know what it looks
like. You should have your dealer check your VIN number for
outstanding recalls and then book it in to have any them taken care
of.

With the old connectors you would disconnect and a tiny amount of fuel
would spill out. When you disconnect with the metals ones quite a bit
more fuel comes out depending how high you keep the hoses. It is not a
big deal as the pump is off and it is just what is in the fuel rail
but it is annoying.
