[ST] Rule Change

That's because motorcycle racing, at least in America, is going in the toilet. All for $$$$

The rules changed, IMO, because everyone (probably leasd by Honda) wanted to promote and publicize the 600's. What better way than to have it in it's own class. They could have done that one of two ways. 1) Create a new class or 2) Change an existing class. For some reason the AMA chose to change Formula Xtreme.

After doing that, win the races and the Championship, and ta-da! You've got motorcycle sales. Race on Sunday and win, sell on Monday and win $$$$.

We'll see what happens in MotoGP in 2007 when the displacement changes from 990 to 880 or 800, whatever it is. They claim they're doing it in the name of safety. Bull! In the five years I've been following MotoGP closely, I haven't seen many serious injury/ deaths because the speeds were too fast. The tracks (except for maybe Suzuka) and the riders can still handle it.

I'll be willing to wager that that change was forced by Honda so they can win races again. They lose Rossi, and lo, the fans realize that it's not so much the machine (like Honda would like us to believe) as it is the rider who wins races.

Everything, that use to be a sport, is now becoming big business. All in the name of corporate profits.

Formula Xtreme used to be liter bikes with heavy mods. Now it's a
fuggin' modified 600 class. Ain't nuthin' "extreme" about that class.
